Sydenham’s Annual Easter Parade

The threat of a downpour could not deter the stalwart families of Sydenham from taking part in this year’s Easter Bonnet Workshop and Easter parade.

The workshop, held in Here For Good on the high street, hummed with intensity as creative tots applied synthetic flora and fauna to the blank canvases of their hats.  Their efforts produced an array of colourful bonnets brightening up our high street as they proudly followed the Easter bunnies from shop to shop, collecting their rewards.  As the parade proceeded, a welcome warming sun peeped through the clouds.

Once again, the day witnessed a wonderful community event that brought a smile to many a passer-by. The parade culminated at The Poodle Club where a third Easter bunny joined the throng proffering yet more treats for the children to add to their collection, making sure a fabulous time was had by all.

Many thanks to Chris Best, as Chair of SEE3, for facilitating the activities; all the Sydenham traders and volunteers for taking part; Barry Milton for all his support; Jenny at Here for Good for offering the venue for the workshop; Karen and Darren from The Poodle Club for adding that little extra this year and drafting the trail map; and finally, a very special thanks to Emma Mallinder and Kate Mallinder for running the workshop.
