We are delighted to announce that Jack-in-a-Box has officially launched. Of the many, outstanding applications, Deborah Chatterjee & Caroline Bourne just pipped the rest to the post and have been appointed to deliver a packed schedule of events for the Forest Hill community engagement project.
Deborah and Caroline are founders of social enterprise, Shared City (www.shared-city.org). Shared City runs imaginative cross-cultural experiences, consultation projects and community events across London. Caroline has 15 years experience of delivering Town Centre Management events and Deborah has lived and worked in the SEE3 area for over twelve years, making them confident they can put some more fun into Forest Hill.
They have kicked off their tenure by surveying as many sections of the local community as possible to find out what they want to see in Forest Hill. Events then kick off with a week of Valentine’s and anti-Valentine’s events including speed-dating and a workshop on attracting love. Future events will include a film festival and street entertainment. The pair are particularly keen to hear from those sections of the communities that may not usually get a say in which local activities are put on.
With a four-month tenure, they won’t be able to change the world but they very much hope that they can leave some sort of legacy in Forest Hill and a general enthusiasm for local people to become more involved in community life.
