We’re part way through our “Cold Writing” challenge at Jill (named not just because of the temperature of the hub, but also because the writers are not allowed to prepare and therefore go in ‘cold’) to create four new short plays in under four days. On Monday the theme “Reinvent” was given to the writers and, after a workshop and lots of cups of tea, they were sent away to write a ten minute play for Jill.
After a (potentially) sleepless night for the writers today will see three actors and one director descend on Jill to rehearse the plays in under six hours. Expect mad prop-dashes, line learning and, once again, lots of tea. If you’d like to get a sneak peek then feel free to pop into the hub at any time before 6pm.
They’ll then be performing our new plays in Jill at 7.30pm tonight and again on Saturday 23rd at 12.30pm, 3.00pm and 4.30pm. All performances are free and there will be tea and biscuits because, it should be clear by now, we like tea and biscuits.
Our four intrepid writers are Ella Ashman, Kimberly Ashman, Judy Upton and Richard Wells and Cold Writing is produced by Lewisham based writing theatre company Write By Numbers.
