This is the third in a series of interviews to give you a bit of an insight into the businesses behind Forest Hill Fashion Week. Today we talk to Aysin Demirci of Bunka Boutique:
What do we do
Bunka is the place to come if you search for well-designed, great-looking, original and fun products you won’t find in the average high street store. Whether you’re after some stylish new clothes, a gift for a special friend, something fun for a baby, accessories to brighten up your home or just a treat for yourself, you’ll find it at Bunka.
Why Forest Hill?
We have noticed how the local profile was changing in favour of young professionals moving to Forest Hill, and the East London line was due to arrive. So we have opened our doors in leafy Forest Hill 10 years ago!
Who we are
Aysin Demirci: Boss-lady with a quirky, distinctive style which is reflected in the feel of her long-standing, much-loved shop.
Serge Sumerling: The only boy in the business with a very British, laid-back style.
Zuhal Atalay: Turkish beauty with a romantic, feminine fashion sense, topped with masses of wonderful curly hair.
Kirsty Denison: Face of Forest Hill Fashion Week, never without heels and a snood!
Three things you may not know about us
- It is our 10th year anniversary this year!
- Bunka was called “Style Leader” of FH and surrounding areas by Evening Standard in 2012.
- Bunka means Culture in Japanese
We held a number of events including our nail art event which was so well received, we may even make it a regular thing! Special thanks to our nail artiste Jess Holmes, and all who came along.
